COLLEGE PARK SKYHAWKS ANNOUNCE 2023-24 SEASON SCHEDULE

Includes Sunday “Kids Day” Games and One Game against G League Ignite

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – The College Park Skyhawks will open their home schedule for the 2023-24 season with a weekend series beginning Saturday, Nov. 18 and wrapping up Sunday, Nov. 19 (6 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively) against the Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League announced today, as the Skyhawks unveiled its full 50-game schedule. The Skyhawks schedule will open with a weekend series on the road against Raptors 905, NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, on Sunday, November 12 at 2 p.m., followed by a rematch on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m.

All 24 Skyhawks home games will be broadcast locally on Peachtree TV (WPCH-TV).

The Skyhawks will welcome NBA G League Ignite to College Park on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m., marking the third consecutive year that Ignite will travel to the Southside. In addition, every Sunday home game will be a “Kids Day” game, which will include activities and programming geared towards kids.

The Skyhawks will enter the season led by new Head Coach Ryan Schmidt and new General Manager Daniel Starkman, who were announced as the team’s third head coach and general manager on Aug. 18.

“The day the schedule becomes official is always one of my favorite days of the year,” said Janice Koon, Vice President of G League and 2K League Operations with the Atlanta Hawks. “It reminds me that great basketball at Gateway Center Arena in front of our amazing fans is just around the corner, and I am so excited to get back there.”

Atlanta Dream Announce League-Leading 11th Sell-Out of the 2023 Season

The 11th full-capacity crowd adds to league-leading, historic attendance numbers

ATLANTA, Ga. (Aug. 22, 2023) – The WNBA’s Atlanta Dream announced today’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, tipping off at 7 p.m., is officially sold out. It marks the Dream’s 11th home sell-out of the season in only 16 games at Gateway Center Arena.

The Dream recorded a sell-out in Atlanta’s earlier home game against the Aces on June 2. Atlanta leads the WNBA in full-capacity games so far this season with three more sell-outs than the Washington Mystics in second.

During the 2022 season, the Dream finished with eight sold-out games, the second-most in the WNBA, and are on track to sell out most of their remaining home games this season.

Ticket inventory for the Dream’s four remaining regular season home games extremely limited, and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time.

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Hawks today announced the team’s five-game 2023 preseason schedule, featuring a previously-announced home game at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park vs. New Orleans, home contests at State Farm Arena against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies and two road games at Indiana and Philadelphia. Gateway Center Arena @ College Park is the home of the Hawks’ NBA G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks.

Atlanta begins exhibition play on Tuesday, October 10 vs. Cleveland and Thursday, October 12 vs. Memphis, both at 7:30 pm at State Farm Arena. On Saturday, October 14, the Hawks head to the Southside to host the Pelicans (3:30 pm) at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park. The preseason wraps up with road contests at Indiana on Monday, October 16 (7 pm) and Philadelphia on Friday, October 20 (7 pm).

The first three preseason games will be available on Bally Sports Southeast, Bally Sports+, The Bally Sports app and BallySports.com with play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun and analyst Dominique Wilkins. The games on Oct. 10, Oct. 12 and Oct. 16 will be broadcast on the Hawks’ radio flagship, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game and the Hawks Radio Network, with Voice of the Hawks Steve Holman and pregame, halftime and postgame host Mike Conti.

Tanisha Wright Named WNBA Coach of the Month

ATLANTA, Ga. (August 2, 2023) – Atlanta Dream head coach Tanisha Wright was named the WNBA Coach of the Month for July 2023, the league announced today.  

Wright led the Dream to an 8-3 record in the month of July, starting the month off with six straight wins – including a record-setting 112 points in a win over Los Angeles on July 2. Entering the month 6-8, Wright led the team to critical wins that put them back over .500 and up as high as fourth in the WNBA standings.  

Her first Coach of the Month honor makes her just the second Atlanta Dream coach to earn the recognition since the award was instituted in 2017.  

She took a previously 8-win Dream team to 14 wins in her first season (their most in five years), earning her the Associated Press Coach of the Year honor. In Wright’s second season the Dream have already tallied 14 wins – doing it in only 25 games – and are on track to make the WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2018.

Atlanta Dream’s Allisha Gray, Cheyenne Parker Named 2023 WNBA All-Stars

The Dream’s first-year All-Stars will compete in the game on Saturday, July 15 live on ABC  

 

ATLANTA, Ga. (July 1, 2023) – Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray and forward Cheyenne Parker were both named 2023 AT&T WNBA All-Stars, the league announced today. Both players earned their first-ever WNBA All-Star nod in the middle of career-best seasons. 

The 2023 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. at Michelob ULTRA Arena, tipping off at 8:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. PT) nationally on ABC. More information on the weekend can be found here

“Both Allisha and Cheyenne earning spots on the WNBA All-Star team is nothing but a reflection of the hard work they put in every single day,” said head coach Tanisha Wright. “We’ve been saying all year that CP is an All-Star, and we knew what we were doing when we brought Allisha here to Atlanta. We’re all so proud of them and thrilled to have them as a part of our team’s core for the foreseeable future.”

Gray finished in sixth place among guards in fan, media and player voting for WNBA All-Star this year. Through 14 games in her first season with the Dream, Gray has scored in double figures in every game, averaging 18.3 points which good for the fifth-most among guards and 11th-most among all players in the league. Her four games with 25+ points are also the fifth-most by any player this season. 

Parker is in the middle of the best season of her nine-year career so far, averaging more minutes (26.7), points (15.4), made and attempted shots (6.0-12.1), offensive (2.8) and total rebounds (7.1), steals (1.5) and blocks (1.4) than any of her previous eight years in the league. She ranks third among all forwards in the league in average offensive rebounds (3.4), and in the top 10 among forwards in average points, blocks, and steals. Through 14 games so far this season, she has tallied four double-doubles and four 20-point games in her third year with Atlanta.

Both Gray and Parker signed contract extensions ahead of the 2023 season, keeping both with the Dream for the next few years. 

The selections mark the first time since 2017 the Dream have multiple All-Stars and the third-straight year of at least one All-Star in the game for Atlanta.

Rhyne Howard Named WNBA All-Star

ATLANTA, Ga. (July 11, 2023) – Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard was named an AT&T WNBA All-Star for the second time in her two-year career, the league announced today. Howard will join Dream teammates Allisha Gray and Cheyenne Parker on Team Wilson in the game, stepping in as an injury replacement for the Washington Mystics’ Elena Delle Donne.

Howard is only the fourth player in Atlanta Dream history to earn multiple All-Star bids, and the selection marks only the third time the team has had three players in the game. 2023 is now the third-straight year with at least one All-Star in the game for Atlanta.

This season, Howard ranks 10th in the league in scoring with 18.7 points per game. The 2022 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year is now averaging 24.2 points during Atlanta’s current five-game winning streak, which includes a career-high 43 points vs. the Los Angeles Sparks on July 2 and 32 points at the Chicago Sky on July 9.

Atlanta Dream Add Taylor Mikesell

ATLANTA, Ga. (June 5, 2023) – The Atlanta Dream have signed guard Taylor Mikesell, the organization announced today.

Mikesell was selected with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, participating in the Fever’s training camp and scoring five points in 14 minutes in their preseason game against Chicago.

The 5-10 guard spent two seasons of her five-year collegiate career at Ohio State, where she earned All-Big Ten First Team honors in both seasons. She averaged 17.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 68 games for the Buckeyes, helping her team to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight with a defeat over No. 2 UConn on the way in 2022-23. Her selection in the 2023 Draft made her the first Buckeye selected in the WNBA Draft since Kelsey Mitchell in 2018.

WNBA’s Atlanta Dream Reveal First Half Entertainment Slate

ATLANTA, Ga. (June 1, 2023) – The WNBA’s Atlanta Dream announced a full lineup of entertainment for the first half of their 2023 home season, headlined by halftime performances from 1K Phew, Saucy Santana and Roscoe Dash.

Most games of the Dream’s five-game home opening stretch are expected to be sold out and only limited inventory remains available for the New York (June 9) and Connecticut (June 11) games; tickets for each can be purchased here.

Baby Tate and Goldyard performed at the Dream’s first two home games of the season, with Baby Tate’s performance happening in front of a fully sold-out Gateway Center Arena.

The Dream’s Friday, June 2 matchup against the Aces is sold out, the team’s second sellout in three games. With two sell-outs in opening week to start off the 2023 season, the Dream currently leads the WNBA in ticket membership sales and are on track to sell out most of their home games this season in Atlanta. Fans are encouraged to arrive at Gateway Center Arena early as well as pre-pay for parking via the Ticketmaster app to avoid long entrance lines.

The Dream’s first Friday night game against the Las Vegas Aces has already been announced as a sell-out, the second of the team’s first five home games to be sold to capacity.

Friday, June 9 – New York Liberty | 7:30 p.m. ET

Halftime: Saucy Santana | Anthem: Nikita Hollins

After starting his career as a makeup artist for the Rap duo City Girls, Saucy Santana began rapping in 2019. He released his debut single “Walk em Like a Dog” in the same year. Saucy Santana gained acclaim in 2021 when his singles “Material Girl’, “Walk”, and “Here We Go” gave rise to several viral challenges on TikTok.

Sunday, June 11 – Connecticut Sun | 4:00 p.m. ET

Halftime: Canton Jones | Anthem: House of Hope Choir

Canton Jones is a Gospel/R&B Singer who grew up in Deerfield Beach, Florida. At the age of 5, Jones joined a singing quartet formed by his father. After high school, he attended Morehouse College where he joined the school’s popular glee club. While apart of the club, Jones was afforded the opportunity to sing for Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Jones, Ray Charles and more.

The Dream will celebrate Praise ATL day during the game, which will act as a celebration of the faith-based community in Atlanta. The Dream will debut their retail and on-court gear collaboration with God is Dope with limited edition merch for sale at Sunday’s game.

Friday, June 23 – New York Liberty | 8:00 p.m. ET

Halftime: Roscoe Dash | Anthem: C West

Atlanta-native Roscoe Dash is a rapper, singer, and songwriter best known for his debut single “All the Way Turnt Up (featuring Soulja Boy),” which peaked at number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2010. He is also known for featuring alongside Wale on Waka Flocka Flame’s “No Hands” the same year, and alongside Kanye West on Big Sean’s “Marvin & Chardonnay” in 2011, both reaching Nos. 13 and 32 respectively on the Hot 100.

The Dream will host Sneakerhead night as a celebration of Atlanta’s sneaker culture, with a sneaker museum on the concourse showcasing our players’ kicks and an artist designing Dream shoes on the concourse.

Friday, June 30 – Washington Mystics | 7:30 p.m. ET

Halftime: Victor Jackson | Anthem: Gay Men’s Choir

The Dream celebrate Pride during Friday night’s game against Washington, with the evening’s entertainment headlined by College Park native Victor Jackson and the Gay Men’s Choir returning to perform the National Anthem. Dubbed “Mr. Glam Rock Soul” As a choreographer and creative director, Jackson has worked with superstars including Jennifer Hudson, Lil’ Wayne, and August Alsina. He has appeared on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Game, Step Up: Highwater, Lovecraft Country, and Kandi & The Gang with an electric performance of his single “He Belongs To The City”. As a performing artist, Jackson has appeared in AT&T’s Turn Up The Love campaign and was chosen as one of CITI & Music Forward’s 2022 LGBTQ+ Emerging Artists.

As one of the Dream’s tentpole themes, the Pride game will celebrate Atlanta’s burgeoning LGBTQ community. The inside the arena will be decked out in a vivid Pride-themed montage including giveaways adorning seats, video board graphics and décor. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase special Dream Pride shirts at the Dream Drip Shop inside the arena.

Sunday, July 2 – Los Angeles Sparks | 3:00 p.m. ET

Halftime: DSSD Step Team | Anthem: Helen Medlin

Daughter Sister Stepper Dancer (DSSD) is a local Atlanta dance group comprised of young girls ages 4-18 years old. DSSD strives to create a solidarity environment through an outlet of artistic expression through step, dance & cheer. DSSD has the most significant youth step following in the step world and is a national and state championship team.

Tuesday, July 18 – Minnesota Lynx | 7:00 p.m. ET

Halftime: 112 | Anthem: Jase (Soul4Real) 

Atlanta-based 112 rose to fame in the late 1990s and continued into the early 2000s with hits such as “Only You” (featuring The Notorious B.I.G.), “Anywhere” and the Grammy Award–nominated single “Peaches & Cream”. The group most notably won a Grammy Award in 1997 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, for featuring on the single by label boss Puff Daddy, “I’ll Be Missing You” (alongside Faith Evans). On July 24, 2020, 112 released the single “Spend It All”. In an interview with Rated R&B, they described the song as “an ode to women.” “Spend It All” is the first single from 112’s EP Forever.

112 will be a key feature of the Atlanta Dream’s first-ever 90s night. The entire game experience will be a throwback experience to the 90s, highlighted by limited-edition Atlanta Dream 90s merchandise for sale.

Saturday, July 22 – Connecticut Sun | 1:00 p.m. ET

Halftime: Burn Unit Breakdance Company | Anthem: Bahja  

Diverse in ethnicity, gender and age, Atlanta’s Burn Unit breakdance crew brings a distinct style of dancing to the Dream’s halftime on July 22. Their raw, edgy movements are reminiscent of house dancing, Capoeira, gymnastics, Cirque du Soleil and animalistic influences.

Tuesday, July 25 – Phoenix Mercury | 7:00 p.m. ET

Halftime: Suni MF | Anthem: Sirena Grace  

Suni MF is an artist, songwriter, voiceover actress, actress & influencer from the westside of Atlanta, GA. She quickly built her reputation off amazing stage presence paired with powerful & catchy lyrics. Her latest single “Easy Money” has garnered over 300K streams on Spotify and sync’d in multiple TV shows such as Zeus’s “One Mo Chance”. With almost 1M views on TikTok, the sound started a dance trend which launched her acting career in Issa Rae’s newest show “Rap Sh*t.” Suni MF’s songwriting breakthrough occurred when she received her 1st placement, with KeKe Palmer’s “Sticky”, which premiered & featured on MTV’s Club MTV #DanceTogether & the 2020 VMAs. Since then, she has written for Central Park (Apple TV), FloMILLI, Sukihanna, and more.

This will the Dream’s first superhero night which will feature superhero themed activations throughout the entire game experience.
